This project involved a comprehensive kitchen renovation, including the design, supply, and installation of a new IKEA kitchen. It was a like-for-like replacement, meaning no alterations were needed for the existing electrical or gas systems. Our goal was to deliver a modern and functional kitchen that matched the client’s aesthetic preferences while staying within the budget.
The client had a clear vision for their kitchen: a handle-less design in a dark color palette, contrasted with a lighter worktop to enhance the visual impact of the darker integrated appliances. They chose IKEA for its sleek, modern designs and affordable pricing. The challenge was to fit all the desired elements, including several integrated appliances, into a relatively small space without compromising on style or functionality.
Located in West Bromwich, West Midlands, this project had a budget of £7,000. The design process focused on maximizing the available space while ensuring the kitchen remained visually appealing and practical. We carefully planned the layout to accommodate the integrated appliances and maintain a clean, uncluttered look.
Timing was a critical factor in this project, as the client needed the kitchen to be completed within 3-4 weeks of the initial consultation. We adjusted our schedule to prioritize this project, working on and off over two weeks to fit around our existing commitments. Despite the tight timeline, we managed to coordinate all aspects of the installation, from the demolition of the old kitchen to the fitting of the new one.
One of the main challenges was dealing with uneven walls, as the room had not been replastered. This required precise measurements and careful adjustments to ensure a seamless fit for the cabinets and appliances. Additionally, working in a confined space with no outdoor access presented logistical difficulties, particularly when cutting materials like worktops. However, our team adapted by using dust extraction tools and keeping the work area as clean and organized as possible.
Maintaining clear and constant communication with the client was key to the success of this project. We used messenger for regular updates and quick responses to any questions or concerns, which minimized delays and kept the client informed every step of the way. This approach helped build trust and ensured the client felt involved and satisfied throughout the process.
Although this project did not require major electrical or gas work, we collaborated with an electrician to reconnect the appliances and reinstall the plug sockets after the splashbacks were fitted. This ensured that all electrical elements were safely and correctly integrated into the new kitchen design.
The project was completed on time and within budget, and the client was extremely pleased with the final result. The new kitchen met all their expectations in terms of design, functionality, and quality. Their satisfaction was reflected in a glowing review left on our Checkatrade profile, highlighting our professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to deliver on promises.
